As per Jefferson Parish policy, schools must complete safety drills including fire drills, evacuations, and lockdown drills. Teachers will review procedures with their students prior to the drill. While we understand that these drills can cause anxiety for students, we must adhere to JPS policy and procedures and we believe in the importance of being prepared and proactive.
In addition, metal detectors have been added to all schools; students will need to pass through the metal detectors on a random basis to enter the building. Again, this is in an effort to ensure safety for our school community.
